I went to Wolvehampton, an hour out of Birmingham for a visit... and do some shopping.

I was at Avenue Mansion in Petchburi Soi 7..... everyone knows this mansion. If you are looking for food, I would suggest that you go to Soi 5 because there are more variety of food there..... northern, I-san, southern... everything.. there. Soi 7 does not have much to choose.

By the way, the best restaurant in Soi 7 would be 'Nang Phaya' but the shop has very few seats and is always booked up by Malaysian and Indonesian tourists.

Are you at the appartment in Soi Aram-sri? Very convenient, near the bus stop and sky train. You can walk to MBK, Siam centre and Paragon in 7 minutes. You are also near Panthip and Pratu nam and in another direction, you are very near Victory Monument.

However, I can suggest you the most delicious 'Cha Yen and Cafee Yen - Iced Tea and Coffee' in Soi 7. It is 'Bang Arifeen Cafe shop-- opposite Avanue Mansion. It opens from 6.00 am -6.00 pm. Don't go during lunch time 'cause there will be long line ........ like the 'Rotiboy' in Silom Road naa.

I can treat you if after Songkran Day naa. I will arrive BKK on 30 March and will be in air-conditioned room for 3 days without coming out. Then, I will have to do my project until Songkran.

However, if you want to go there earlier, Nong Mahdee is the one who are VERY familiar with Soi 7. Ask him to act as your guide.

The shop opposite 'Nang Phaya Restauarant' is 'Ali's Southern Food Shop' with malay Muslim food from Yala and Pattani krab.

This Ali's shop is an ordinary shop like those in Sam Yan market but it has very good 'Malayu clear styled-Tom Yum' which does not contain chilli paste in it and does not look very red like Thai Tom Yum. It is clear Tom Yum but strong taste with herbs such as onion, lemon-grass, garlic, lime leaf, ect..... no curry in it naa.

The Ali's shop also has very tasty curry.... particularly fish curry and ox liver curry (my favourite dish). This shop is popular among the students while Nang Phaya is for working people (with affardable spending)

However, after enjoying your meal in this Ali's shop, the bill may come up similar to 'Nang Phaya Restaurant' naa Nong Mahdee.

It's NOT that cheap!!!!!

If you want to try Malay / southern food..... go to Ali.
But if you want to eat good THAI food in air conditioned room, go to Nang Phaya.

BUT if you want to eat FREE food, wait for me naa NONG.
